Wearable Art Jewelry

Great Response

I have had such a great response to my new wearable art jewelry. I've had a lot of fun creating these little pieces from my own artwork. Some are my landscapes miniaturized to the size of a Scrabble tile and others like the dew drops are the actual size I painted the dew drops. Some are done on little Scrabble tile rectangles and some are done on a small round wooden game piece. I applied the image to the game piece, coated it with a thick layer of doming high grade jewelry resin, attached a bail and added a silver plated ball chain.

When people see these in person, they love them and want them! I have gotten rave reviews. This makes me so happy.

I've been adding them to my Etsy Shop several each day. Take a look, maybe there is one you just have to have. If you see any in the photos of multiples and they're not yet listed in my shop, please contact me. I will be happy to see if I still have it for you. I have multiples of some of the designs, but not all of them. The pendants will make a great little gift, a great stocking stuffer, a great secret santa & grab bag gift. Teens and adults absolutely love them!

Billiard Dew Drop Pendant

I am so excited about turning my art into fun and trendy art jewelry. I have decided to add a free silver plated ball chain with each of the Scrabble Tile pendants in my Etsy Shop so they are ready to wear. New Project

Resin Pendants & Rings

This week, I started a fun new project. I've been wanting to create Scrabble tile pendants for a while now. I think they are so adorable. I turned a bunch of my very own original art into jewelry. It was so much fun to do.

The square ones are done on Scrabble tiles and the round ones are also done on little wooden game pieces. The doming resin makes them pop and look so cool.

Matting Little Works

ACEO = Art Cards, Editions and Originals.

ATC = Artist Trading Card

An ACEO and an ATC are generally the same thing. A small work of art in any medium, the size must be 2.5 x 3.5 inches. Some are prints in either open or limited editions and some are original works of art.

These adorable and highly collectable little works of art look cute framed in a small frame. They also look very chic and contemporary matted and framed to fit a standard 8 x 10 inch frame.

Winter Watercolors

Wintertime Snow

As winter begins to fade so will the snow. The memories of the fresh wintertime snow, will be just memories until next winter. Ahh, the beauty of fresh fallen snow.

This is a lovely little watercolor the size of a postcard, 4x6" painted on 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper. It is matted in a white museum mat and slipped inside a plastic sleeve. It is ready to frame in a standard 5x7" frame.

A Little Escape to the ACEO Seaside

Wouldn't you just love an escape to the seaside right about now? I know I certainly would.

Not only is this an original watercolor painting but it is also considered an Art Card often times called an ACEO or an ATC.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions or Originals. ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. The only requirement for them is the size which is 2.5" x 3.5", the same size as baseball trading cards. They were created for artists to trade amongst each other. Art lovers wanted them too and if they are bought and sold they are considered ACEOs. They are created in pretty much any medium.

Just a warning ... once you buy one, you will want more! It is a great way to purchase a little piece of affordable art and start a collection.

Art in the Park

Art Fairs ... Thing of the Past?

Last summer, we signed up for several art fairs ... indoors and out. We created what we thought were esthetically pleasing booths, one for indoors and one for outdoors (as seen here). Yes, it is nerve racking preparing for the first show, worrying about weather for the outdoor shows, but in the end ... it was fun.

As for the shows themselves ... it was great to connect with other artists. It was fun watching the people wander around the art fair. Talking with people who were actually interested in our art was great. However, the overall turn out of visitors seemed to be low. Talking with other artists who have done the shows in the past, they said the turnout was a lot smaller. People seem to be "just browsing". With the shift in the economy from bad to worse, what will this summer bring?

Are art fairs a thing of the past?

I hope not. It is a fantastic way to get people out and about in the fresh air. Take in the sights of creative artisans displaying their wares to the world. Supporting local artists by purchasing goods directly from them. We all have rent to pay in one way or another.

Original fine art is so important to keep alive in our culture today.

Pretty Little 4x6" Works of Art

I have painted a bunch of small watercolors in the 4x6" size.  The size of your standard postcard.  I think I read somewhere, there is a specific term for this size art.  I can't remember the term and never realized there was a specific category for it.  

I also learned a new trick today.  How to capture a screen shot.  So, here is a quick screen shot of the Original Watercolor 4x6" Section of my Etsy Shop!

Abstract ACEOs

This is the latest in my series of abstract ACEOs called Splat II.   This original watercolor painting is only 2.5" x 3.5" and done on 140 lb. watercolor paper.

Just a little reminder:  ACEO = Art Cards, Editions & Originals.  They are created by artists to trade amongst each other and to sell to those who would love to purchase fine art from a variety of artists but do not have a large budget to spend on art.  Art Cards are a wonderful way to start up an art collection.  It can become an addicting hobby and luckily most art cards are sold at affordable prices, so if you don't have one to trade, they are easy to buy. 

Trail Mix & Artisans of Etsy

I love making homemade trail mix.  It is super easy and the recipe can vary.  It all depends on what's in the cupboard.  Today's mix is one part peanuts, one part raisins and one part chocolate chips.  It even looks fantastic in this fabulous bowl found on Etsy which I got as a birthday gift.
