ATC = Artist Trading Card - Traded

ACEO & ATC are the same exact size 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the same size as any type of trading card, baseball, hockey, etc. They are created in any medium, the only requirement is the size, plus they're flat. As my Painting A Day for the Month of February Challenge continues, I have created two miniature winter landscape paintings. February, usually the coldest and snowiest month of the year inspires snowy little paintings.

Day 15 of the challenge and my darling husband says "This challenge is going on for a whole year, right?" My original plan is for 4 weeks, during the entire month of February, including weekends. Will it continue beyond February? We will all have to wait and see, let's get through February first.

Yesterday, I was cleaning up and rearranging my studio. I am starting to prepare for a new project. I found a piece of watercolor paper with pencil lines lightly drawn on it. I took out a ruler and measured it. The grid size was 2.5x3.5 inches. Perfect for art cards. I also found a few of my old watercolor Christmas cards which were the inspiration for the design. A larger painting trimmed and separated into mini paintings. I have not decided if they will be ACEOs, art cards for sale or ATCs, artist trading cards.

My Student's Art

Art Card Swap in Watercolor Class

Last night we swapped Artist Trading Cards in class. My students loved it! Everyone had so much fun trading the mini works of arts amongst each other. The biggest challenge was getting around to trade with everyone between the steps of our painting project.

We all painted 18 art cards using watercolor, in any style and subject mattered. I had a few extra in my give away stash, more to choose from is always fun.

I teach a watercolor painting class for adults and I introduced my students to the world of Art Cards - Artist Trading Cards - ACEOs. Tomorrow night we will all be trading amongst each other in class. Shown here are the cards I painted to trade in class. All of my art cards are original watercolor paintings.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions & Originals

ATC stands for Artist Trading Cards

The art cards are known as ATCs when traded and ACEOs when bought and sold. They are pretty much the same. The key important thing for art cards is the size. ACEOs and ATCs are alway 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. They can be created in any medium.

Buying or trading art cards is a great and inexpensive way to collect little pieces of original art from a wide variety artists.
